National Fire Academy Alumni Association (NFAAA)

In honor and support of all Fire Service Educators, we are privileged to announce that Cengage Learning will donate a portion of the proceeds to the National Fire Academy Alumni Association (NFAAA) for every copy of The Firefighter's Handbook: Firefighting & Emergency Response we sell. The NFAAA was selected as the sole recipient of this contribution because of the similarities of our missions and our belief that NFAAA makes a positive difference in the education, safety, and welfare of firefighters.

Fire & Emergency Services in Higher Education

Working with coordinators or two- and four-year academic fire and EMS degree programs, the USFA's National Fire Academy (NFA) has established the FESHE network of emergency services-related education and training providers. FESHE works to enhance the quality and consistency of educational programs through a formal network, and to address national issues that impact these education programs. FEHSE has created a dmodel curriculum for a Fire Science degree, and the EMS arm of the group is currently developing a model curriculum for EMS as well.

National Fallen Firefighters Foundation

Congress created the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to lead a nationwide effort to honor America's fallen firefighters. Since 1992, the non-profit Foundation has developed and expanded programs that fulfill that mandage. Their mission is to honor an dremember America's fallen fire heroes and to provide resources to assist their survivors in rebuilding their lives.

IFSAC

IFSAC (International Fire Service Accreditation Congress) works to increase the level of professionalism of the fire service through accreditation of those entitites who work with Assemblies within the Congress, for the accreditation fo fire service training and/or education. It is a non-profit peer driven, self governing system that accredits both fire service certification programs and higher education fire-related degree programs.

The purpose of the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (Pro Board) is to establish an internationally recognized means of acknowledging professional achievement in the fire service and related fields. Accreditation is generally provided at the State or Provincial level to the empowered certifying authority of that jursidiction
